With the release of the Nokia N8, it will be Nokia’s last N series phone to run the Symbian operating system. From here on out the Nokia N line of devices will go to the MeeGo operating system. This is not the last Nokia phone to run Symbian operating systems though – the Nokia X and E will be running Symbian. The C series will run the existing Series 40 system. The Nokia N9 will be the premier device of MeeGo which is unlikely to be released this year due to the N8 being released late this year. Symbain will soon be trickling down to the lesser of the smartphones with this announcement from Nokia. The future phones to carry Symbian will not be the top of the line phones and will more likely be cheaper feature phones. This is a good thing for Nokia though – this means Nokia is moving forward in keeping up to date and reaching into future technologies
