It’s been brought straight to our attention by HTC that the Droid Eris will run around equipped with an improved platform, whether that be Android 2.0 or Android 2.1. Nevertheless, Sprint or Verizon have been elusive of the potential upgrade, and therefore dimmed the hopes of some customers. Today, though, customer’s eyes are shinning bright with anticipation after Verizon announced that the Droid Eris will have a “newer” version of Android featuring integrated Google Maps Navigation and slated to be released in the first quarter of 2010. Considering that Google’s navigation apps work on 1.6, that piece of information can be discarded hastily in ascertaining the build of Android that will be used, but Hero’s pumping on 2.1, so it shouldn’t be any trouble for Verizon to make the grade.
