 Good for a clean shave, but can't beat a razor. |

The first thing that will strike you on receiving the razor it the ridiculous amount of over packaging. There's cardboard, plastic stickers and vacuum moulded plastic, it reminded me of those horrible chocolate Easter Eggs that I used to get when I was a kid that came in a cardboard box with the middle cut out to reveal the ostrich sized egg inside. Not for the echo-concious.
Once you manage to make your way in through the packaging to the content you fine a charging cable with (bathroom sockets only) two comb attachments for trimming and a third accessory to protect the blade. You also get a small bottle of oil to lubricate the blade and trimming extension after cleaning, but the amount is so stingy () it make me wonder why they bothered including it. My last razor, also a Braun, came with a nice little fabric travel pouch in which you could store it and all it's accessories when travelling or going on holiday. No such luck this time.
Shaving seems fine, but I find that if I leave my stubble to long or two short I don't get as clean a shave as I had got use to since switching to using a traditional blade. Depending on the length of your stubble it can be almost as slow as using a normal razor (assuming your moderately used to doing so), but I do find that when you're in a hurry, especially in the morning, the advantage of not having to take care about cutting yourself and being able to dash around the house looking for keys etc. and not having to be constantly in front of the mirror is enough of an advantage to make me overlook this. Still that last point would apply to any moderately usable electric shaver.
Cleaning is straightforward enough, slightly easier than my last one as it's waterproof and you can clean most of the residual hair out by just turning it on and letting it run under the tap. I recommend giving it a more thorough dry clean at least once a weak. The main blade is easy to detach meaning that this is not to difficult to do. Once removed the inside of the blade is easy to clean as there's no awkward places for dirt to get stuck.
Charging has struck me as being surprisingly fast although this probably also explains the fact that It doesn't feal like the battery life is especially long, though I am basing this on the first discharge and didn't really count how many times it allowed me to shave. On the plus side, it has a quick charge feature which mean you get enough juice for one shave in five minutes and you can always resort to shaving whilst charging although the battery may not appreciate this.
Overall a decent, if £10-£15 overprice, machine, that could have probably been sold cheaper and with a far smaller carbon footprint had it not been so over packaged. |

| Good product, does what it says on the box. Well made and delivered in good time. However, it was a present for my son and as I've never bought a shaver before and I didn't realise that you needed an adaptor to charge it so I would have liked a more explicit description maybe. |
Too many gadgets and gizmos

I was looking for an electric shaver that would give me the stubble look and after some searching found the CruZer3. If you visit the products' website you can watch a featurette of the various styles you can try. In the hands of the stylists the CruZer3 can achieve some wonderful effects, unfortunately in my hands the magic didn't quite happen.
As a basic shaver the CruZer3 isn't bad, unfortunately there are too many gadgets and gizmos needed for the styling bit for me. I can't help feeling that it tries to offer too many things: if you want a shaver buy a shaver, if you want a trimmer buy a trimmer.
Having said all that, I do still use the CruZer3 as a shaver; I have just lowered my expectations of what else it can do. |
