1.3 Million Watched the State of the Union on Whitehouse.gov

According to the House blog , 1.3 million people watched U.S. President Barack Obama’s State of the speech live on the House’s website — or at least on sites that embedded the official video. The House also said that 50,000 people participated in a Q&A with officials on Facebook after the speech. We’d like to know what the numbers were like at all the other sites that streamed the event so we can get a total view count. Still, we’re confident that the President’s State of the didn’t top his inauguration; 13.9 million watched the inauguration on CNN.com alone a year ago. The Twilight Saga: New Moon red carpet event on Ustream actually had more live viewers than the State of the did on whitehouse.gov, but don’t worry — 48 million watched the President’s speech on old-school TV. You might recall that the House launched an iPhone app that would stream the speech. While the House hasn’t figured out exactly how many viewers watched on the app yet, it did announce that more than a terabyte of data was streamed
